Verse of the day
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God. John 1:1
Senkessar for today
Pray Abune Zebesemayat together, every line in all three languages
Your children follow the English while they learn to read the Ge'ez their priest prays. You read the Amharic you grew up with. Holy names keep their red, as in the church's own books.
አቡነ ዘበሰማያት ይትቀደስ ስምከ።በሰማያት የምትኖር አባታችን ሆይ፥ ስምህ ይቀደስ፤Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
ትምጻእ መንግሥትከ።መንግሥትህ ትምጣ፤Thy kingdom come.
ወይኩን ፈቃድከ በከመ በሰማይ ከማሁ በምድር።ፈቃድህ በሰማይ እንደሆነች እንዲሁ በምድር ትሁን፤Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
ሲሳየነ ዘለለ ዕለትነ ሀበነ ዮም።የዕለት እንጀራችንን ዛሬ ስጠን፤Give us this day our daily bread.
Example from the prayer view: the Lord's Prayer, Matthew 6:9–11.
The Bible, the saints, the fasts and your questions, in one place

The fasting calendar
Wednesdays and Fridays, Tsome Nebiyat and Abiy Tsom on the Ethiopian calendar, with reminders for everyone in the house.
Why do we fast on Wednesdays and Fridays?
On Wednesday the elders plotted against Jesus and Judas agreed to betray him. On Friday he was crucified. The church keeps both days as fasts all year, except in the fifty days after Fasika.
- Matthew 26:3–4, 14–16
- John 19:16–18
- Fetha Negest, chapter 15
For how your family should keep the fast, ask your parish priest.
Answers you can check
Ask in English or Amharic. Every answer quotes the exact text and names its source, from Tewahedo teaching only.

For parents
Your children speak English at school and at home. The Kidase is in Ge'ez and the teaching is in Amharic. Read the scripture, the saints and the prayers with them in a language they follow, and know that what they're learning is our church's teaching.
For young adults
Grew up in the church but lost in the Ge'ez? Look up the reading you heard on Sunday, see it line by line in English, and get answers about the Kidase and the fasts that point to the actual text.
A study tool, not a priest
TewaDaily helps your family read and understand. It doesn't replace confession, the Kidase or your parish. For spiritual guidance it sends you to your own priest, and it never mixes in other churches' teaching.
